THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR IN THE CONTEXT OF FORMING HISTORICAL MEMORY OF YOUNG GENERATION

Abstract. The article considers historical memory as one of the basic channels to transfer experience and knowledge about the past. Relying on the findings of the original sociological study the authors discover a tendency among young people to lose interest in the events of the Great Patriotic War and to shift the focus in its evaluation. According to the authors, this state of historical memory about the war is characterized by the explicit deformations of the mechanisms for the translation of historical memory.
