"GUILTY WITHOUT GUILT" (LIFE CONDITIONS OF ORPHANAGES RESIDENTS OF SVERDLOVSK REGION IN 1948-1949)

Abstract. The article analyzes the life conditions of the children, who resided in the orphanages of Sverdlovsk region in 1948-1949. Relying on archival materials the author provides striking examples characterizing the everyday material and psychological conditions of the orphanages residents in the mentioned period. The paper concludes that these conditions can be considered as hard, and the very system of orphanages in the form that existed in the USSR - as rather defective. The considerable amount of the presented information is introduced into scientific use for the first time.
