THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO STUDYING THE PHENOMENA OF NATION AND NATIONALISM: PROBLEMS AND GROUNDS FOR CLASSIFICATION

Abstract. The article examines different methodological approaches to studying the phenomena of "nation" and "nationalism", focuses on the grounds to attribute certain researchers to this or that paradigm. In the humanities there are several competing but already axiomatic and default classifications, which are commonly used and widely propagated. The author believes that the most grounded is a dichotomy between two paradigms - Primordialism and constructivism.
