GOTTFRIED VAN SWIETEN AND VLADIMIR ODOYEVSKY: THE PIONEERS OF BACHIANISM

Abstract. The article deals with certain aspects of the history of Bachianism. Nowadays J. S. Bach’s personality is a cult one, his music creativity is perceived as a standard. However, such an attitude to the heritage of the great cantor has been developed for centuries: an enormous number of Bach’s creativity admirers all over the world has favored the development of Bachianism. The research is devoted to two individuals, who were the pioneers of Bachianism: Baron Gottfried van Swieten and Prince Vladimir Odoyevsky. The issues of what reasons caused these people to promote the development of Bachianism and in what ways they did it are considered in the work.
