Abstract. In the article A. N. Radishchev’s interpretations of the notions "body", "soul", "thinking", "life", "orderliness" used by him in substantiation of the theses on the mortality or immortality of soul are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the thinker’s assessment of the importance of the natural bases of human behavior. The influence of Western Enlightenment on Radishchev is traced, the reflection of his ideas in the following development of national philosophy, as well as the presence of correlations with evolutionary ethics are stated.
