SAMKHYA AND CATEGORY OF CAUSALITY IN INDIAN PHILOSOPHY

Abstract. The article is devoted to the issue of the categorization of cause-and-effect relations in the philosophical system samkhya and its further development. The arguments of the supporters of the system in respect to the problem of effect existence before its development from cause are presented. The fundamentals of samkhya and subsequent postulates from them are identified. The author considers the evidence of the higher cause of being - prakriti - with respect to its quality characteristics and gives the views of samkhya adherents concerning the unmanifested principle of peace.
