FINLAND: POLICY OF NON-ALIGNMENT WITH POLITICAL AND MILITARY BLOCS

Abstract. In the article the author considers reasons for conducting the policy of non-alignment with NATO as well as with political and military blocs by Finland. The year of 1995 for Finland became a turning point in relations with the European Union due to entry into the organization. In contrast to other EU countries (the Baltic ones), which border upon Russia, Finland taking the objectives and policy of the EU leaves as its priority the development of relations with Russia in many areas of cooperation that often leads to disagreements with the leadership of the EU.
