Abstract. The article studies the problem of social chaos. The authors are at one with the view based on synergetic discourse that considers social chaos as a fundamental prerequisite for social order. However, they proceed from the fact that synergistic approach should be complemented by ontological approach to the understanding of social chaos through the study of its existential roots. Chaos is not only considered as a crisis of society, but primarily as an indicator of the state of the human being, as a construct of the ontological structure of society that is interpreted in the article as social world.
