Abstract. Mediation in crimes becomes a more common phenomenon, which can be observed in quite a number of criminal spheres: bribery, drug trafficking, etc. Taking into account that the activity of criminal mediators in scientific literature was analyzed, as a rule, from the viewpoint of classifying its concrete manifestations, the problem of motives demanding for this model of criminal behaviour and conditioning its propagation remains insufficiently investigated. The article aims to identify and analyze motives and backgrounds promoting the involvement of mediators into crimes.
