MULTICULTURALISM IN THE CONTEXT OF PHILOSOPHY OF THE OTHER

Abstract. The article examines the essence of multiculturalism as a social phenomenon involving the equitable co-existence of the cultures of various minorities. In this situation the philosophical conception of the Other developed in phenomenological traditions should be considered as the most successful explanation of its essence. The conception is represented in the interpretations of E. Husserl, Jean-Paul Sartre, E. Levinas and J. Habermas.
