Abstract. The article emphasizes the existence of different creative directions in modern sound engineering. At present, sound engineering is increasingly studied from the perspective of musicology, but there are no works devoted to this subject in national literature. There are only few publications, which do not contain a clearly substantiated classification, the creation of which is the goal of this work. The author describes differences of creative directions according to the degree of the sound engineer’s interference in musical material and offers her own classification in conformity with this principle.
