Abstract. The article analyzes insufficiently known legends about Ruimon containing valuable information for the reconstruction of the religious and mythological conceptions of the Ossetians. Identifying the correlation of the functions of the serpentine monster Ruimon and the sea serpent of the Judaic mythology named Leviathan the author concludes that the Ossetian myth about Ruimon contains the Judaic eschatological elements borrowed in the period of the Middle Ages when a part of the North Caucasian Alans, the predecessors of the Ossetians, confessed Judaism.
