PROBLEMS OF THE BRITISH IDENTITY IN THE MODERN RUSSIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract. In the article the problems of the reflection of changes in the modern British identity in national historiography are considered. The author singles out several discourses, within the framework of which the Russian scientists consider the issues of the British identity, namely the discourses britishness/englishness; britishness / transnational identity; the British identity / the identity of the EU, and, finally, the British identity / post-imperial syndrome. Within the scope of these four thematic areas the process of the discussion and design of the modern British identity takes place.
