Abstract. The article examines the formation of the concept "educational system" in the theory of education of the national pedagogy of the 60-80s of the XX century within the framework of systemic approach. The author provides an analysis of the literature describing the development of systemic approach in the Soviet science as a general scientific one, identifies its basic conceptions with their further concretization from general to particular in relation to the theory of education within the framework of the investigated period.
