FORMATION OF SPORTS MOVEMENT AND REALIZATION OF "READY FOR LABOUR AND DEFENCE" PROGRAMME IN THE USSR

Abstract. In the article the peculiarities of the policy of the Soviet government in the field of physical culture and sport are presented. The author notes that great attention was paid to the development of the applied functions of sport including the use of physical training in preparation for employment and the defense of the homeland. A constituent part of policy in this field was the development of the sports programme "Ready for Labour and Defense". The author compares the original version of the programme "Ready for Labour and Defense" approved in 1931 with the amendments that were made to it in 1932, 1934, 1939 and 1972.
