EARLY TESTIMONY ON THE SCOTTISH SETTLERS IN THE NEW WORLD (1621)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the history of the Scottish colonization of the North America. The author examines the problem of the perception of the English American colonies in the Scottish society of the first quarter of the XVIII century, analyzes the history of the appearance of the Scotsmen in the English colony Cuper’s Cove in Newfoundland. For the first time the researcher analyzes the document "Petition of the Treasurer and Company with the Scottish Undertakers of the Plantations in Newfoundland", which is the first testimony on the residence and activity of the Scottish colonists in the New World.
