IDEOLOGICAL AND ARTISTIC PECULIARITIES OF THE FILM BY FRITZ LANG "HARA-KIRI" (1919)

Abstract. The article examines the ideological and artistic peculiarities of the early creative work by Fritz Lang. In this connection the author analyzes artistic means (the specifics of photography, editing, performance), by which F. Lang in his first film "Hara-kiri" (1919) shows fundamental differences between the western culture losing its active element and the culture of the East directly associated with the conceptions of duty and honour. The author argues for the thesis that the originality of F. Lang’s creative manner forms while filming "Hara-kiri".
