REFLECTION OF THE EASTERN CHRISTIAN THINKERS’ IDEAS IN CREATIVITY OF F. M. DOSTOYEVSKY (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE NOVEL "CRIME AND PUNISHMENT")

Abstract. In the article the religious and moral content of F. M. Dostoyevsky’s novel "Crime and Punishment" in the light of John of the Ladder’s work "The Ladder" and the Eastern Christian ascetic doctrine is revealed. The author considers and concretizes those main propositions of Orthodox anthropology, which had the greatest impact on the creation of artistic images by F. M. Dostoyevsky in "Crime and Punishment". It is emphasized that ladder symbol used in the novel can be revealed through the analysis of doctrine about the passions of soul of the Eastern Christian theologians including through comparison with "The Ladder" of St. John of the Ladder.
