Abstract. In modern mass culture considerable interest in religious subjects can be traced; on the other hand, mass culture generates its own "myths", which subsequently influence religiosity in society. On the basis of mass culture phenomena close on a number of their characteristics to religious ones occur. Sometimes they are even called "religions" that form new religiosity. This process can be interpreted by means of religious theories. The article is devoted to the importance of the theological study of religious motives and images in mass culture.
