Abstract. The article shows how the problem of memory is defined in Kierkegaard’s existential philosophy. Remembrance and the memory of duty are the basis of subject’s identity at the aesthetic and ethical levels of existential dialectic, but Kierkegaard identifies such form of memory as belief in repetition and the demand of repetition, due to which a single subject reaches certain commensurability in relation to the truth of absolute being, becomes, like biblical Job and Abraham, the witness of life.
