STRUCTURAL ORGANIZATION OF CATHOLIC AND ORTHODOX LITURGICAL CYCLES: SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

Abstract. This article is devoted to the analysis of the structure of the daily liturgical cycles of the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. The main area of the study was the structural-semantic analysis of ritual elements, which revealed differences in the deep organization of daily liturgical cycles in two Christian confessions. Their models influence the formation of divine services of higher level, and in particular this relates to the typical ancient tradition of Orthodoxy, the tradition of Vespers and Matins combination into the single rite of All-night Vigil that is absent in the Catholic Mass.
