ARCHITECTURAL AND SPATIAL ORGANIZATION OF SETTLEMENTS AND HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS OF THE ARMENIANS OF THE LOWER DON REGION (THE END OF THE XVIII - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY)

Abstract. The article analyzes the rural architecture of the Armenians of the Lower Don region that formed at the turn of the traditions of folk architecture and the ideas of the style Russian architecture. The authors conclude that the plans of the villages were developed considering the rural nature of the settlements and have certain differences from the planning of the Armenian town of Nakhichevan. The traditions of organizing residential area brought by the Armenians from the Crimea to the land of Don were transformed under the influence of the Russian architectural and domestic culture.
