Abstract. The article analyzes the research activity of the natural scientists of Saratov State University during the Great Patriotic War. Various spheres of the natural science activity of the university scientists: chemists, geologists, mathematicians, physicists, etc., are discussed. The author concludes that in the wartime conditions the researches of the natural scientists of Saratov State University were of applied nature and completely subordinated to the needs of the front and the rear.
