Abstract. The article is devoted to the role of personality in social and historical space. The role, significance and influence of each personality on the course of history change substantially in modern self-organizing network society. The processes of self-organization are carried out owing to the freedom and activity of each social subject. At the same time personality can possess both constructive and destructive properties, and this fact should be evaluated not ethically but structurally and functionally.
