ETHICAL AND ONTOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF POWER IN THE WESTERN EUROPEAN PHILOSOPHY

Abstract. The article examines the ontological foundations of the phenomenon of power in the European philosophy. The author identifies the interaction of metaphysical conceptions typical for the Western European discourse and the place of ethical principles in the picture of the world. According to the researcher, it determined the specifics of understanding the essence of power in the social theories of different periods, and also predetermined cardinal amendments in social practice.
