Abstract. The article examines the history of the creation of the Central Customs (Cynological Center of the Federal Customs Service of Russia), the contribution of the first director E. N. Chukharev in the development of cynology in customs authorities. The author analyzes the stages of the formation of cynological service in customs authorities, focuses on the importance of creating the Cynological Center of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, on achieving positive results while using working dogs in fight against smuggling, the illegal circulation of drugs, weapons. Special attention is paid to the role of working dogs in solving problems set before customs authorities.
