FEDOR STEPUN ABOUT CRISIS OF THE EUROPEAN ARTISTIC CULTURE IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The purpose of the article is to show the importance and originality of the aesthetic views of the Russian thinker Fyodor Stepun, and to reveal the essence of his reflections on the crisis phenomena of culture in the XX century. The author seeks to understand the uniqueness of neo-Kantian attitudes of the philosopher, their methodological justification, and cognitive value. Particular attention is paid to the problem of the spiritual affinity and mutual influence of Stepun’s philosophy and the ideological conceptions of V. Weidle and H. Sedlmayr. The article emphasizes the relevance of the philosophical findings of Stepun, their importance for the understanding of contemporary cultural processes.
