ROLE OF PROTESTANT ETHIC IN FORMATION OF SPIRIT OF CAPITALISM: INTERPRETATION OF M. WEBER

Abstract. The article on the basis of the paper "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism" by M. Weber analyzes relation between the basic religious ideas of ascetic Protestantism and the norms of economic behaviour, justifies the essential features of the economic human in Protestant ethic. The author analyzes approaches with critical attitude to M. Weber’s thesis about the crucial role of such Protestant values as diligence, honesty, economy in the formation of capitalism. The researcher emphasizes the heuristic importance of Weber’s theory in the aspect of the culturally typical specificity of the western human.
