SIGNIFICANCE OF S. L. SYTIN’S ACTIVITY IN THE FORMATION OF THE MUSEUM-RESERVE "HOMELAND OF V. I. LENIN" IN ULYANOVSK

Abstract. For the first time the article examines the history of the creation of the museum-reserve "Homeland of V. I. Lenin" in Ulyanovsk and the significance of the activity of S. L. Sytin in this process. Documents from the personal archive of S. L. Sytin, Ulyanovsk State Archive of Contemporary History and archive of the museum-reserve "Homeland of V. I. Lenin" are revealed and introduced into scientific use. The author comes to the conclusion that the leading role in the formation of the concept of the museum-reserve, the preservation of the memorial quarter in Lenin Street (former Moskovskaya Street) and the following museumification of the historical environment was played by S. L. Sytin.
