FOLK GAMES IN TRADITIONAL FESTIVE CULTURE OF THE TUVINIANS: SEMANTICS AND CONTEMPORARY METAMORPHOSES

Abstract. The article examines the meanings and symbolic nature of folk games in the traditional festive culture of the Tuvinians. The author comes to the conclusion that these games, being a relict of initiation ceremonies and chaotic group marriage, were directed at the evocation of fruitful natural and human forces. The reconstruction and metamorphoses of folk games in contemporary theatrical-choreographic forms allow keeping this original component of ethnic culture.
