TSARIST RUSSIA’S POLICY IN SOUTH DAGESTAN IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XVIII - AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XIX CENTURY (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE KURIN KHANATE)

Abstract. The article examines political processes that occurred in the second half of the XVIII - at the beginning of the XIX century in South Dagestan. Special attention is paid to the policy of the great powers - Iran, the Ottoman and Russian Empires - in the Caucasus region and, in particular, to the process of South Dagestan merging in Russia. This process is considered through the multifaceted prism of different interrelations (both external and internal) by the example of the Kurin Khanate located just at the border of Dagestan and Azerbaijan.
