PECULIARITIES OF POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE CAUCASUS REPUBLICS IN 1989-2000 (BY THE EXAMPLE OF ABKHAZIA, ADYGEA, DAGESTAN AND CHECHNYA)

Abstract. The research of the issues related to the political development in 1989-2000 of the state formations located in the Caucasus region is the focus of attention of modern historians, political scientists, sociologists, social scientists, and so on. The article aims at identifying the peculiarities of the political system formation in four Caucasian republics - Abkhazia, Adygea, Dagestan and Chechnya - in the last decade of the XX century. The presented material based on archival sources, the legislative acts of the studied regions, periodicals, and the Internet data allows characterizing and showing special features of both political process and state structure in them. Within the framework of comparative historical analysis the author considers the events that contributed to the choice in 1989-2000 by the studied regions of the tactics and strategy of the further form of government in connection with the transformation of one social pattern to another - the radical breaking of the existed political system. During the research two main lines of development are singled out, as well as the peculiarities that were manifested within these frameworks in each of the subjects, which reached by different ways during these years the increase in their state status and passed to civil society construction on the basis of democratic principles, are shown.
