HISTORIC CONNECTIONS OF THE CHUVASH PEOPLE’S ANCESTORS WITH ETHNIC COMMUNITIES OF THE CRIMEA (THE IV-XVII CENTURIES)

Abstract. In the article the historic connections of the Chuvashes’ ancestors with the peoples of the Crimea in the IV-XVII centuries are studied. The author for the first time considers the participation of the ancestors of the Chuvashes - the Bulgarians and other Oghur-Turkic-speaking tribes - in the mutual assimilation of the Crimean peoples since their arrival in the peninsula as a part of the Huns’ wave of nomads. The state institutions located in the Crimea played a significant role in the history of the Chuvash people even after the Bulgarian and Savirs tribes had migrated from the southern steppes into the Middle Volga region and formed their own state - Volga Bulgaria.
