POP-MUSIC AS A SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL PHENOMENON: THEORETICAL ASPECT

Abstract. Popular music is one of the main cultural manifestations of society. The article gives the definition of this term as a socio-psychological phenomenon, and the peculiarities of the genre in the process of human perception are revealed. Special attention is paid to the formation of pop-music and its development. The author gives a generalized definition of the term and highlights its typical features; the place of pop-music and its role among other socio-psychological phenomena, its functions, the basic strategies of impact on society on the whole are analyzed. The double perception of the impact of popular music on a man is also substantiated.
