EMILE ZOLA AS A FOUNDER OF SCIENTIFICALLY ORIENTED ART

Abstract. The article examines the impact of the creative work of Emile Zola on XX-century art. The author believes that the significance of Zola doesn’t restrict itself to the creation of naturalism as an artistic movement. Zola’s ideas about art orientation on science achievements conceived by socialistic realism, non-figurative avante-garde, surrealism are more important. Having polemized with naturalism, these artistic movements kept its orientation on science; consequently, Zola may be considered as their founder and predecessor.
