Abstract. The article deals with the development of the Orthodox religious institutions of the Christianized Tatars of the Volga-Urals region in the second half of the XIX - at the beginning of the XX century. The author analyzes the formation of the system of primary confessional (missionary) education and the Kryashen Orthodox clergy, the introduction of Orthodox public worship in the Tatar language in the Kryashen parishes. By historical material the role of the Orthodox Church in the development of educational movement among the Tatars-Kryashens is shown.
