PUBLICISM OF THE ACADEMICIAN N. YA. BICHURIN IN SCIENTIFIC-CULTURAL SPACE OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE

Abstract. In this article the author for the first time in national historiography carries out the analysis of the journalistic creativity of the outstanding orientalist, founder of Russian sinology, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences N. Ya. Bichurin. In connection with the declared "Year of Literature in Russia" the problems examined in the article are particularly relevant, since Bichurin was very close to the circle of the prominent Russian writers and poets of the XIX century and left rich scientific-journalistic and artistic-creative heritage. The paper determines the socio-cultural role of N. Ya. Bichurin’s publicism.
