Abstract. The article is devoted to revealing symbolist features in O. Wilde’s drama and is addressed to the artistic and critical heritage of the author. It will allow more precisely correlating Wilde’s creative work with the works of his contemporaries in the context of the mentioned artistic trend. This study substantiates the appropriateness of defining the writer’s drama as "symbolic" one, allows expanding the circle of its distinguishing indicators. The latter becomes possible as in the critical works by Wilde the focus is made on some phenomena, which were not theoretically substantiated in the works of other authors-symbolists.
