CHERSONESUS ST. VLADIMIR’S MONASTERY AFTER THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SOVIET POWER IN CRIMEA (NOVEMBER, 1920 - 1921)

Abstract. The article describes the activity of Chersonesus St. Vladimir’s Monastery after the establishment of Soviet power in Crimea and Sevastopol in November, 1920. On the basis of identified archival documents the author examines the status of the monks of one of the biggest monasteries in the south of Russia at the beginning of the XX century. Analyzing the questionnaires of Soviet state security bodies the researcher identifies the structure, quantity, ideological attitude of the monks, who remained in the monastery after the evacuation of Wrangel’s troops. The paper gives an idea of the attitude of the bodies of Soviet power towards the monkhood in the first years of its establishment on the peninsula.
