Abstract. The article examines the process of the propagation in the USA and Great Britain of the idea of international organization in the years of the First World War. The author analyzes the genesis of the first organizations aimed to implement this idea and shows the complicated process of the adoption in public opinion and later on in international law of the idea of collective actions to secure peace, collective security and international sanctions of economic and military nature.
