Abstract. The article is devoted to the activity of the prominent representative of the Ossetian intelligentsia G. V. Baev. Special attention is paid to studying his role in the educational and cultural life of the Terek region. The author comes to the conclusion that G. V. Baev made invaluable contribution to the development of school education and book publishing, the first rural libraries, clubs and the cinema were opened due to his efforts. All public and educational activity by G. V. Baev considerably promoted the national revival and cultural development of Ossetia.
