IMPACT OF SCIENCE DEVELOPMENT ON EUROPEAN ART OF THE XVII-XX CENTURIES

Abstract. The article demonstrates the dependence of the art of the Modern Era on the development of scientific knowledge of the XVII-XX centuries. The author comes to the conclusion about the existence of two waves of science impact on art conditioned by the formation of science in the XVII century and industrial revolution in the XIX century. The researcher notes that in the course of time overstated expectations concerning science led to disappointment in art projects oriented to scientistic norms; art needs orientation to its own aims and values.
