CH. S. PARNELL: PERSONAL ASPECT OF IRISH ISSUE IN THE LAST THIRD OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article examines the personality and activity of the outstanding leader of Irish national movement Charles Parnell. The paper describes the basic traits of his character and the motives, which were the basic driving force of his activity since in the last years the works devoted to this subject are quite rare. Still there is no single assessment of his personality among his contemporaries or among modern historians. The article reveals Parnell’s basic views, ideas and goals and analyzes the reasons for his failure on political scene.
