Abstract. The article deals with the characteristics of ontological randomness as a phenomenon of nature, physical reality. The types and sources of the appearance of natural randomness in microcosm, the dynamic multi-element linear systems of macrocosm, the complex open non-linear systems of macro- and megacosm are listed. It is shown that quantum-mechanical randomness, fluctuation and spontaneous generation are single types of randomness, and the sources of randomness are statistical chaos, chaos of nonlinearity and chaos of interactions. The properties of ontological randomness in nature are revealed.
