NOTION OF "ACTION" IN DRAMA AND OPERA PERFORMANCES

Abstract. The article attempts to analyze and substantiate one of the main tools for the director’s analysis of the original author’s (prose, dramatic, musical) text - the notion of "action". It is shown that if the director bases on the "movement of plot", it will defeat the purpose of the act of theatrical creativity turning art into a copy of life. The author proves the need for strict distinguishing between the terms the "movement of plot" and the "movement of action". The notion of "plot" is substantiated only as a means to express action.
