ROLE OF NEW THEATRICAL PRACTICES IN SOCIOCULTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS OF RUSSIA

Abstract. The article examines the problem of contradictions between the development of innovation processes and the necessity to preserve traditional values. The theatre as a social institution comes out as one of social instruments for its solution. The paper presents the results of the analysis of the functional and institutional transformation of theatre acquired on the basis of the comprehensive study of the valuations of audience, actors and public. For the first time the authors introduce the definitions of new and traditional theatrical practices, argue for the importance of the sociocultural role of the former ones as a factor for the realization of a strategy for raising the priority and prestige of culture. The authors emphasize the necessity for the transference of cultural heritage on the basis of the principle "demand of consumer - response of actor" corresponding to perception by different generations.
