Abstract. The topicality of the article is determined by the primary role of the conception "health" in the ancient times. The first attempts to understand health/illness, later on - medical practices, were based on philosophical methodology. The problem of the psycho-physiological integrity of an individual is examined in philosophical and medical aspects. The outstanding thinkers of the investigated period interpreted human health as a peculiar symbiosis of elegant beauty, elevated morality, physical perfection and social utility.
