FAMILY LAW OF THE KUMYKS: CORRELATION OF ADAT AND SHARIAH

Abstract. The article is devoted to the traditional-normative correlation of the Adat-Shariah jurisdiction in the Kumyks’ family law. The author considers the legal status of each member of the Kumyk family and intra-family relations regulated by the norms of customary law. The correlation of Adat and Shariah law is considered in part of the similarities and differences of penalties for the offenses of husband, wife, children, relatives in relation to each other, in particular, intra-family murders, thefts, injuries, etc. Particular attention is paid to the property-legal relations of spouses.
