POLITICAL POTENTIAL OF COSSACKS IN CONDITIONS OF THE RUSSIAN SOCIETY MODERNIZATION (BY THE MATERIALS OF THE KABARDINO-BALKAR REPUBLIC)

Abstract. The article deals with issues connected with the development of the political potential of the Cossacks of Kabardino-Balkaria in the conditions of the Russian society modernization. In the work the author notes the main stages of the Cossacks’ politicization, concludes that their political potential favoured the strengthening of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic integrity; reveals that the authentic Cossacks’ culture and political potential in the process of the Cossacks’ revival at the present stage are not actually used.
