NATIONAL STRUCTURE OF POPULATION OF UDMURTIA IN 1939-1959

Abstract. The article analyzes changes in the national structure of the population of Udmurtia over the period of 1939-1959. Both the materials of censuses and not previously introduced into academic use archival materials of the Statistical Department of the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic served as sources. The author made an attempt to explain the reasons for the reduction of the quantity and share of the Udmurts under the simultaneous growth of the quantity and proportion of other peoples residing within the territory of the Republic. The paper shows why in the period between censuses information about national structure was not gathered.
